About the video:
KXMB CBS Bismarck North D wrote: It's the last day to file your taxes. And, two groups are using the tax deadline to push their tax ideas. This afternoon, American's For Prosperity, is collecting signatures at post offices throughout the state They have an initiated measure to reduce state income taxes by fifty percent for individuals and fifteen percent for corporations. To put the issue on the November ballot the group has to collect more than thirteen thousand signatures by the middle of July. Dustin Gawrylow says if the measure passes, it would mean about a 500-dollar savings for each family. (Dustin Gawrylow/ Americans for Prosperity) usually they have concerns about how are we going to pay for it and once we tell them the state will have nearly a billion dollars left over at the next legislative session they pretty much agree that either it should be spent in a wise manner or given back or not taken in the first place. Also, N-D-People-dot-Org is holding a tax rally today at the Bismarck Post Office. Don Morrison says they are calling for an end to what they call misplaced priorities of the Bush Administration. He says President Bush is wasting tax dollars by fighting a war in Iraq that is jeopardizing our security. Morrison also says it's time the government invests in the future of our country and stop giving tax breaks to the rich. (Don Morrison/ NDPeople.org) We want a government that spends money on people. we want a government that spends our money on making sure everyone in this country has health care. we want a health care that spends money on better schools on veterans benefits. Morrison says the average North Dakotan paid about twenty-two hundred dollars in Federal Income taxes this past year.
